The Congregation: Our congregation is comprised of 145 confirmed adults and young adult members. On a regular Sunday, approximately 65 members attend worship. The church, although it is located downtown, houses a congregation which is not representative of the downtown Hagerstown population. Our members are predominately middle-class. A large proportion has attained education levels beyond high school. There is a group of young family members, under 45, and a second group of elderly members, single and married, who are retired. Approximately 60% of the parishioners are female. The membership was as high as 932. In 1962 our congregation founded Covenant United Presbyterian Church as a mission church. That church now has a fully established identity separate from The Hagerstown Presbyterian Church.
